“Spending cuts are an imperative and complement the tax cuts in the Big, Beautiful Bill.” – Patrice Onwuka

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Independent Women’s Voice, a leading national women’s organization dedicated to advancing policies that enhance opportunity and well-being, released the following statement on the rescissions package released by House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.).

Patrice Onwuka, Director of Independent Women’s Center for Economic Opportunity, said:

“Spending cuts are an imperative and complement the tax cuts in the Big, Beautiful Bill. H.R. 4 delivers what we believe will be the first of many legislative installments to end wasteful, ideologically-driven spending in Washington. DOGE ripped the sheets off the insane and indefensible taxpayer-funded programs at USAID and the State Department. For years, Americans have been subject to egregious bias at NPR and the radical leftist dogma in PBS’s content. This rescission package puts an end to all of this. We urge every member of Congress to pass H.R. 4 quickly and keep up the momentum for real transformation in Washington.”
