“It’s a new day in Washington—one of accountability and possibility.” – Independent Women President Carrie Lukas
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Independent Women, the leading national women’s organization dedicated to advancing policies that enhance opportunity and well-being, celebrates the progress for America in the first six months of President Donald Trump’s second term in office and the positive impact of the administration’s America-first policies.
Carrie Lukas, Independent Women president, said: “It’s a new day in Washington—one of accountability and possibility. There is the prospect for tremendous positive reforms in education, health care, work life, caregiving, and so much more. Spending programs that never made sense, but somehow always continued apace, are steadily being eliminated or right-sized. Americans are increasingly hopeful, and for good reason. It’s been an incredible first six months.”
Patrice Onwuka, director of Independent Women’s Center for Economic Opportunity, said: “The first six months of the second Trump administration have marked a sharp change in our economic outlook for the better. Since President Trump took office, core inflation has tracked at levels not seen since the first Trump administration. Summer gas prices reached an inflation-adjusted near-20-year low. No longer are egg prices a headache, as the price of a dozen eggs is down over 50% since Inauguration Day. The three legs of President Trump’s economic agenda are each delivering for the economy. Deregulation has saved Americans over $180 billion, or $2,100 per family of four. Tariffs are surprisingly generating substantial revenue for the federal government, posting the first surplus since 2005. The One Big, Beautiful Bill Act has delivered the largest tax cut in history for middle- and working-class Americans. From no taxes on tips, overtime, and auto loan interest, to a permanently increased Child Tax Credit, take-home pay is expected to rise by up to $13,000 for families. Plus, Washington is finally cutting spending and rightsizing our social safety net programs. Imagine what the next 3.5 years will deliver.”
Meaghan Mobbs, director of Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security, said: “America is stronger and more secure than it has been in decades. Our borders are finally being enforced, with illegal crossings at historic lows and the flow of illicit drugs impeded. Fully funded wall construction, increased manpower, and aggressive enforcement measures will keep us safe for years to come. The safety of the American people is being treated as a national priority. That strength isn’t confined to our homeland. Under President Trump’s leadership, NATO has achieved a breakthrough: member nations are now contributing at unprecedented levels, delivering long-overdue burden sharing and freeing up U.S. resources to confront rising threats in the Indo-Pacific. At home, military recruitment is surging. The Department of Defense has returned to its core mission of warfighting readiness. Nowhere is that renewed focus more evident than in Operation Midnight Hammer, a decisive campaign that led to a denuclearized Iran and opened the door to a more stable, prosperous Middle East. This is what ‘peace through strength’ looks like: a secure border, a strong military, and a safe America. The world needs American leadership, and President Trump is just getting started.”
Gabriella Hoffman, director of Independent Women’s Center for Energy and Conservation, said: “In the first six months of his second term, President Trump has restored America’s standing as a global energy leader. From announcing new natural gas, nuclear, and critical mineral projects to streamlining permitting reform, the Trump administration is unleashing reliable, abundant, secure energy needed to power artificial intelligence (AI), meet rising electricity demand, lower costs, and allow Americans to enjoy comfortable first-world living standards. This is happening alongside the conservation of wild spaces and protection of nature. The Center for Energy and Conservation applauds the Trump administration for prioritizing energy abundance above climate alarmism.”
Beth Parlato, Independent Women senior legal advisor, said: “In his first six months in office, President Trump has taken significant steps to reaffirm the constitutional framework that safeguards individual liberty and limits government overreach. The administration’s decisive actions to restore our foundational freedoms have sent a clear message that he is delivering on his promise to return power to the people and reinforce the principle that the rule of law must prevail over partisan agendas.”
Neeraja Deshpande, policy analyst for Independent Women’s Education Freedom Center, said: “We are finally seeing parents getting real leverage against ideological indoctrination in classrooms, and teachers getting real protection through the Department of Education’s focus on restoring student discipline. While years, if not decades, of damage have taken their toll on our schools—and will take time to reverse—the past six months have shown us that when our leaders have a will, much can be accomplished for American students.”
