WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security issued the following response to the looming government shutdown and the need for Congress to pass a clean Continuing Resolution so that veterans can continue to receive the care they deserve.
Meaghan Mobbs, director of Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security, said:
“Congress must immediately pass a clean continuing resolution to keep the government open. A shutdown is entirely preventable but Democrats are choosing political theater over practical governance.
“For veterans, this isn’t a Washington talking point—it’s a direct threat to the care and services they’ve earned. Claims will stall, housing assistance will be delayed, and community programs that fight suicide and homelessness will be jeopardized.
“Veterans answered the call when their country needed them. It’s time for Democratic leadership to do the same—pass a clean continuing resolution and don’t put veterans in a position to be used as political pawns.”
