WASHINGTON, D.C.Independent Women’s Voice today issued the following statement supporting the U.S. House passage of the Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act (H.R. 2616) as a major milestone in the effort to protect future generations of children from harmful ideology being taught in school.

Carrie Lukas, executive vice president of Independent Women’s Voice, said:

“Congress took an important step toward restoring academic excellence in America’s classrooms with the passage of H.R. 2616, the ‘Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act,’ led by Chairman Tim Walberg and Representative Burgess Owens.

“The ‘Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act’ helps ensure K-12 schools remain focused on education and academic achievement. Classrooms should be places where students learn reading, math, science, and civics, not where divisive political and social agendas are pushed on America’s children.

“When schools prioritize ideology over academics, students lose valuable instructional time and parents are too often shut out of deeply consequential decisions affecting their children. This is especially concerning in cases involving gender ideology and secret social transition policies that can lead children down a dangerous path toward irreversible medical and psychological harm.

“By advancing this legislation, Congress has taken a stand for students, parents, and educational integrity. Federal education funds must solely support learning and achievement.”
