Legislation provides critical funding for ICE, CBP, and Border Patrol while strengthening national security and public safety.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following Senate passage of the Secure America Act, legislation that provides roughly $70 billion in funding for immigration enforcement and border security, Independent Women is urging the U.S. House of Representatives to swiftly pass the bill and send it to the president’s desk. The legislation would provide critical resources for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the U.S. Border Patrol to strengthen border security, enforce immigration laws, combat trafficking and drug smuggling, and protect American communities.
Meaghan Mobbs, director of Independent Women’s Center for American Safety and Security, said:
“A nation cannot be secure if it cannot control its borders. Without adequate resources, even the best policies cannot be effectively enforced. The Secure America Act provides the funding necessary to restore operational control, support the men and women on the front lines of border enforcement, and strengthen America’s security posture. Congress should move quickly to send this legislation to the president’s desk. Border security is a fundamental responsibility of the government and a prerequisite for a safe, strong, and sovereign nation.”
Beth Parlato, Senior Legal Counsel, Independent Women’s Law Center, said:
“Border security is national security. The American people deserve a government that takes immigration enforcement seriously. The Secure America Act provides critical funding and support for ICE, CBP, and Border Patrol agents who are tasked with enforcing our nation’s laws, combating human trafficking and drug smuggling, and protecting public safety. Congress must act swiftly to pass this legislation and help restore security, order, and accountability and put an end to the dangerous criminals, cartels, and illegal activity that have flourished under years of failed border policies.”
