WASHINGTON, D.C.Independent Women’s Voice today issued the following statement on the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act to expand housing supply and lower costs:

Patrice Onwuka, vice president for economic policy at Independent Women, said:

“On balance, the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is a win for household affordability in America. Decades of chronic underbuilding have led to a shortage of homes for sale. Onerous government regulations, restrictive zoning rules, and opaque permitting processes made new construction costly and uncertain. By prioritizing deregulation, policymakers are starting to attack the problem—limits to institutional investing aside. We hope to see the fruit of this bill in the years to come, as first-time homebuyers have more places to call home and the dream of home ownership is back within reach.”
